A second theory sits beside the Inanna one and the two may be pulling in the same direction. Three anniversaries are stacked: the debut album turns 20 on October 24, 2026; Reputation turns nine on November 10, 2026 (its tenth is 2027); and Showgirl turns one on October 3. Fans read the Spotify video-catalog teaser as showing the videos in order with one exception, Karma, landing thirteen seconds before the end. That observation is the study author's own, not corroborated by any press description of the teaser, and is carried as such.
The Karma lore. The long-running fan theory holds that an orange rock album called Karma was planned after 1989 and shelved after the 2016 blowup, and that Reputation took its place. Swift has never confirmed the album exists. Showgirl's orange palette was already read as Karma when the twelfth album was announced, and that did not pan out.
The masters letter, read from the primary image
Swift posted a handwritten two-page letter on her site on May 30, 2025 announcing she had bought her first six albums' masters. The wording below is read directly from the letter image her site served (pulled from a June 1, 2025 archive), not from press transcriptions, which vary in small words. A third sheet was added beneath the two on September 21, 2026, edge visible only, unreadable.

Reputation and the vault, verbatim:
I know, I know. What about Rep TV? Full transparency: I haven't even re-recorded a quarter of it. The Reputation album was so specific to that time in my life, and I kept hitting a stopping point when I tried to remake it. All that defiance, that longing to be understood while feeling purposely misunderstood, that desperate hope, that shame-born snarl and mischief. To be perfectly honest, it's the one album in those first 6 that I thought couldn't be improved upon by redoing it. Not the music, or photos, or videos. So I kept putting it off. There will be a time (if you're into the idea) for the unreleased Vault tracks from that album to hatch. I've already completely re-recorded my entire debut album, and I really love how it sounds now. Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about. But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now.
She names "the unreleased songs" as something she owns outright, which is exactly where a shelved 2016 record would live. She frames the vault tracks as hatching on their own timeline, not inside a Rep TV package, and owning the masters removes the reason to re-record at all. The debut re-record is finished and waiting for "when the time is right," which is what an October 24 anniversary looks like. "Patient zero" is an origin-of-the-contagion phrase, and the 2016 pile-on is the most obvious contagion in her story. The third sheet appeared on the letter the day before the reveal. The Patient Zero artwork is grey monochrome, the register of Reputation's black-and-white, not Showgirl's orange. And the Inanna reading and the Karma reading want the same thing: a descent into the dark and a return with what was taken.
The letter promises vault tracks "from that album," meaning Reputation, and never names Karma. She has never released shelved material as an album, and her orange palette already failed as a Karma signal once. The single is labeled Showgirl at checkout, so its first home is the current era, not 2016. The teaser ordering is uncorroborated, and thirteen is her number for everything, not a Karma-specific tell.
Most likely: Patient Zero is a Showgirl-era single that opens a new chapter. Likely and separate: a debut (Taylor's Version) or debut anniversary release around October 24. Plausible, and the letter supports it: Reputation-era vault or shelved songs released on her terms without a full re-record. Least likely: a full "lost Karma album" as an album. Friday's lyric decides the first two; a readable third sheet on the letter decides the third.
